Hampta Pass got its name from the village Hampta (Hamta) lies in Kullu valley. Hampta Pass trek is the best trek in the Himalayas for first time trekkers and there are number of reasons why Hampta Pass Trek is so famous among amateur trekkers.

Chandra Taal or Chandra Tal, is situated at an altitude of about 4,300 metres in the Himalayas. Mountains of scree overlook the lake on one side, and a magnificent cirque presents a view on the other. The name of the lake originates from its crescent shape. Situated in the Spiti part of the Lahul and Spiti district of Himachal Pradesh (India), Chandra Taal is a popular destination for trekkers and campers.

Day 1: Drive to Kaljang tea shop below Hamta Farm and trek to Sarotu Thach

Altitute: 2900 Meters.
After 45minuts drive start your trek to the first camp. The first 3 hours of the trek are uphill through the Sethan Village. Continue your trek through the forest and meadows to the first camp locally known as Sarotu thach.

Day 2: Trek to Chikka

Altitute: 3200 Meters. Approx. Duration: 6-7 Hrs.
The trek along Hamta valley is delightfull. We pass Gujjar encampment and flowered meadows. The camp site locally known as Chikka is at the confluence of Hamta river and small stream.

Day 3: Trek to Bhalu Ka Ghera / Rattan Thali

Altitute: 3500 Meters. Approx. Duration: 6Hrs.
The trek along Hamta Valley is delightfull. We pass Gujjar camps and flowered meadows. The trail ascends up valley before passing through a further series of flowered meadows where the Gaddi Shepherds camps early in the season. Continue to the base of Hamta pass. The campsite known locally as Bhalu Ka Ghera / Rattan Thali.

Day 4: Cross Hamta Pass(4270M) to Shela Gohru

Altitute: 3600 Meters. Duration: 6-7 Hrs.
The ascent to the pass is not difficult on Himalayan standards. The trail ascends gradually towards the pass then cross a number of scree slopes often under snow for most of time. From the pass you can gain good views of Inderasan and hanuman Tibba peaks, while to the north views to the main Lahaul range complete the Panorma.Descend to a grassy campsite with the option of trekking to the north glacier. The campsite known locally as Shela Gohru.

Day 5: Trek to Chatru & Drive to Chandra Taal

The descent to the Chandra valley is quite steep. Follow a trail that descends quite rapidly to the Chandra valley. To reach the roadhead you cross the Inderasan river just above the confluence with the Chandra River before reach the small settlement at Chatru( Trek Duration 1 hrs.). From chattru drive along the chandra river to Chandratal Lake 4270 Meters.On route you appriciate the wild scenery and hanging Glaciers and 6000M. peaks. Overnight camp. 2hrs drive.

Day 6: Drive Back to Manali
