Leave Budapest for the day to visit the famous porcelain town of Herend and the most popular Hungarian resort of laid-back Lake Balaton. The trip includes a guided tour through the world's largest porcelain factory at Herend before continuing to beautiful Lake Balaton, where you'll visit the famous nature reserve of Tihany Peninsula.
At Herend porcelain factory, founded in 1826, you'll learn about the old tradition of porcelain hand-painting during a guided tour. Afterwards, you'll have time for a coffee break and the opportunity to purchase some of the world-famous hand-painted porcelain.
The tour then continues on to Lake Balaton, the largest freshwater lake in Central Europe, scenically located at the foot of the volcanic hills of the Balaton Uplands. There, you'll visit the scenic nature reserve of the Tihany Peninsula with its famous Benedictine Abbey, dating back to 1051.
After a typical 3-course lunch including wine in a traditional tavern, you'll drive to Hungary's oldest spa town, Balatonfüred, before returning back to Budapest.
