The Jewish district in Pest has a long and rich history. The huge synagogues that you’ll see on this heritage tour give some idea of the area’s former activity. The Dohanyi Great Synagogue is the second largest Jewish temple in the world.

The tour will give you a general view trough history of the local Jewry, the Holocaust in Hungary and the
present life of around 90,000 Jews living in the country.

 

We will start walking from the Chain bridge along the Danube river and you will have a history preparation and background.
THE SHOES holocaust monument gives you private life history of the local Jews. Follow by car to the WALLENBERG statue ( Swedish diplomat to rescue ten-thousand of lives) in the former International Ghetto area you will study the misty story of this swedish diplomat.

Drive to the Andrassy Avenue we walk further to explore the JEWISH DISTRICT sites:

the former Status Quo SYNAGOGUE, Kiraly road with courtyards and shops of the former Jewish life in Budapest. A piece of the GHETTO WALL, complex of courtyards to walk trough and visit the Main Orthodox Synagogue and courtyards, the DOHANYI Main Synagogue ( 2nd largest in the world) where you will enjoy a guided tour of the interior, the Memorial Garden, TREE OF LIFE, Jewish Museum.

The tour may ends up to transfer you to the Holocaust Museum Pava str.Follow the road of the history and remember...
