Trier is Germany's oldest City and still features Roman remains, the biggest preserved building north of the Alps. It has old monuments and buildings, a unique history and lovely surroundings. Trier is also the birthplace of the influential philosopher and revolutionary Karl Marx. The Karl-Marx-Haus is the house where he was born. It was opened in 1947 and renovated in 1983.
