Dachau Concentration Camp Tour (5 hours):
Meet your guide at Munich Central Station, and then board a train for your short journey to Dachau, just under half an hour away. On arrival, walk the short distance to the town’s former concentration camp and head inside for your morning tour.

In its horrific Nazi heyday, Dachau Concentration Camp was known as the parent camp; it was the first of its kind, and acted as a training facility for the mass genocide that occurred during the days of the Third Reich. Persecuted people from all walks of life – political dissidents, Poles, Jews and more – were sent there and its total intake is thought to have hit the 210,000 mark.

Today the camp exists as a memorial site, but many of its original features remain intact. Walk around with your guide and learn little-known facts and tales about the well-known Nazis linked to the site such as Heinrich Himmler, the feared guard who started the camp. Wander past the entranceway bearing the ironic tag Arbeit macht frei (work makes you free), and see the bunker, crematorium and administration headquarters where many a fate was decided.

After exploring the site, return to the train station with your guide and travel back to Munich by train. Then, enjoy roughly 45 minutes of free time for lunch (own expense) before your afternoon tour starts.

Munich Third Reich Walking Tour (2.5 hours):
Head to the prearranged point in central Munich to meet your guide, and then set off on your walking tour around the city to trace the roots of the Third Reich. Home of the Nazi headquarters, Munich was the city where Adolf Hitler’s voice resonated around the streets as during his major speeches.

The exact sights taken are in varied for each tour, but examples of historic buildings that you may see include the former headquarters of the Gestapo and the place where the infamous ‘beer hall putsch’ of 1923 took place – the event that first propelled Hitler to the public eye.

Listen to historical tidbits and tales about the rise of the Nazi party from your guide and look at black-and-white photos of the city taken during the Third Reich.
