Bike tour through historic Berlin

Take a bike tour through Berlin and visit the historic museums, parks and streets which have shaped the history of this great city.

We start the tour at the television tower in Alexanderplatz, and proceed from there to Museum Island in the heart of Berlin. The island, which lies between the River Spree and the Kupfergaben channel, is home to five major world-class museums, and was declared a UNESCO world heritage site in 1999. The museums (Altes Museum, Neues Museum, Alte Nationalgalerie, Pegamon Museum and Bode Museum) are home to important archaeological collections and hundreds of stunning works of art, which together reveal the history and beaty of many ancient civilisations.

The Island is also the location of the magnificent Berlin Cathedral, erected in 1905 in honour of the Lutheran Church and Prussia. Inside, you can admire the spectacular frescoes and the antique organ, as well as visiting the tombs of King Friedrich I and Queen Sophie Charlotte. The top of the dome can be reached by climbing 270 steps, and you can also visit the cathedral during religious services or for one of the impressive concerts held every Saturday.

The tour then continues to Unter den Linden, where you can see the Humboldt Universität, the oldest of Berlin’s four universities. We will also visit the wax museum Madame Tussauds, the famous Brandenburg Gate and the beautiful Tiergarten Park, all on the way to the Reichstag building, where the government of the Third Reich assembled. Here you can also visit the Holocaust Memorial, a 19000m² site occupied by 2711 concrete slabs of varying heights.

Finally, we finish by passing through Potsdamer Platz and Checkpoint Charlie, the location of the Wall Museum, and then back to Alexanderplatz via some shopping streets.
