Vaux le Vicompte and Fontainebleau

A masterpiece of modernity and elegance, Vaux le Vicomte is the castle that inspired King Louis XIV to build Versailles. The best artists of the time were commissioned to erect the castle in the 17th century and it still stands tall today.

Step into the past at the Castle of Vaux le Vicomte with an audio-guide available in several languages. There you will discover the events and processes which led to the contruction of this mighty castle. Feel the serenity and tranquillity of the gardens ''à la française'', where you will be allowed to walk around freely, taking in the atmosphere and the beauty of the gardens.

You will also have the opportunity to take an audio-guided tour of Fontainebleau Castle, which is surrounded by 130 hectares of parks and gardens, the only royal and imperial castle continually inhabited for seven centuries. It contains decorations, rich and important collections of furniture, paintings and works of art. The audio guide is available in several languages and provides you with plenty of information about the site itself and the monuments within, ensuring that you never feel lost!

Fontainebleau is listed as an UNESCO Wold Heritage site since 1981. It is therefore a great place to go and see just some of the rich French history in fantastic condition!
