Medieval Burgundy

Visit to the 12th century Cistercian Abbaye de Fontenay, which is listed as one of the world historical monuments by the UNESCO heritage.

 Afterwards, in the picturesque medieval village of Flavigny sur Ozeraine, we join the locals to have a rustic lunch in a Ferme Auberge run by a group of farmers’ wives using produce from farms in the region. We will then walk off our lunch with a walking tour of Flavigny, officially one of the most beautiful villages in France, with endless photographic opportunities and where the movie ‘Chocolat’ was filmed.

Our day will be completed with a visit to the stunning hillside village and 12C castle of Chateauneuf en Auxois with a private guided tour of the refurbished rooms in the fortified chateau.

 We return home via the picturesque Ouche Valley running alongside the Burgundy canal
