After your guide picks you up from your hotel in Punta Cana and transports you by minivan to Indigenous Eyes Ecological Park and Reserve, embark on a small-group walking tour of the privately owned 1,500-acre (600-hectare) nature park.

Follow your guide along a network of interpretive trails through the tropical forest, and get acquainted with the flora and fauna that are native to the island. Learn all there is to know about the reserve's scientific research and conservation efforts – led by the Puntacana Ecological Foundation – to save native and endangered species in the Dominican Republic.

Your guide will take your small group to a habitat area designed specifically for native iguanas, plus a visit to a fruit tree garden and a petting zoo. See an exhibit about the history of Punta Cana’s sugarcane industry before heading to one of 12 freshwater lagoons – habitat for many birds, reptiles and insects – for a swim.

Jump into the crystal-clear water for a refreshing swim or just relax in this enchanting setting. Hear about the indigenous Tainos who originally inhabited the island and called the lagoons ‘eyes’ due to their distinctive shape.
