Cesky Krumlov is a historical town and UNESCO designated World Heritage Site situated in the south of the Czech Republic about two hours drive from Prague.
In this full-day excursion you will get the opportunity to admire the beautiful countryside of Southern Bohemia with its picturesque villages and numerous lakes and ponds as we head for Cesky Krumlov, situated on a bend of the Vltava River and surrounded by rolling hills. The main attractions here are the Old Town with over 300 protected mediaeval buildings and the Castle Complex, the second largest in the Czech Republic.
Explore the cobblestone streets winding past centuries old townhouses, traditional inns, shops, and cafés and discover the town's many attractions including the Church of St. Vitus dating from the 14th Century and the Neo-Classical Town Hall. After lunch in a typical restaurant we'll climb up to the Castle Complex, founded in the 13th Century and one of the largest of its kind in Central Europe. Here you can explore the Baroque Theatre with its priceless collection of original scenery, costumes, props and still functional today, the Gothic Castle Tower, the Castle Lapidarium with its collection of baroque statuary and the beautiful English-style Castle Gardens covering 11 hectares, dominated by a Rococo summer house and a cascading fountain with statues of water deities. This excursion includes transfer, lunch in a local restaurant, and the entrance fee to the Castle Complex as well as the services of an English-speaking guide.
We meet on Republic Square opposite the Municipal Hall for departure at 09:00 returning at 19:00.
