Cesky Krumlov (in English)

Admire the beautiful burgher houses, with their fascinating façades, and visit the castle known as the Renaissance Pearl.

Dating back to the 13th century, Cesky Krumlov is like a large fairytale village, choc-a-block with architectural heritage and boasting more than 300 historic houses built around a stunning castle and chateau on a bank overlooking a bend horseshoe-shaped bend on the River Vltava. It has Gothic, Renaissance and baroque elements, and is arranged in two parts. The baroque theatre and the frescoed façades, in particular, are a sight to behold. Below the castle, the town itself branches out around a central square, situated on the opposite bank of the river. You will be entranced and enthralled by the authentic charm and history of this place as you wander along its cobbled alleys and explore the castle grounds and other historical sights.

Recognised by Unesco for the quality and intactness of its buildings and townscape throughout five centuries, Cesky Krumlov’s historical value lies in it being a great illustration of how towns and cities in central Europe developed during the medieval and Renaissance periods. With considerably little conservation and restoration having taken place, this charming place is a gem that has remained untarnished by the passing of time.

Start or opening time: The tour is available from April to October on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays and from November to March on Fridays and Saturdays. The departure time is 7pm.
End or closing time: 11pm.
