Strictly limited to 20 adults, this select tour of the pine-clad Troodos Mountains offers you a more personal sightseeing experience of this highland wilderness. We’ll travel high into the Troodos Mountains, the green heart of Cyprus, passing picturesque villages and admiring the stunning scenery on the way, before arriving at the Kykkos Monastery, a Unesco designated World Heritage Site and one of the most important religious sites on the island.
After being picked up from your hotel in the early morning we will head up into the Troodos mountains, stopping at the picturesque village of Astromeritis for coffee on the way. Then we'll make the climb to the Kykkos Monastery, situated at 1318 metres above sea level. Dedicated to the Virgin Mary, this 11th century monastery is ornately decorated with wonderful mosaics in bright colours. It is also renowned for its wealth, with many gold icons and beautifully preserved frescoes. A huge pierced monolith in its courtyard is said to have mystical powers. According to local folklore, a woman who passes through the hole is blessed with a child. We'll stop for a lunch at the nearby mountain village of Pedoulas where you will have plenty of time to explore. The Church of St Michael is well worth a visit. Finally we will return to Ayia Napa, via Platres, arriving between 17:00 and 18:00.
