Have you heard of Famagusta ghost town? We pass the check points (bring your passport or ID) and enter the region of Famagusta. Until 1974 Famagusta was the largest town in the island. We drive thru the main streets of the town and visit the ancient ruins of Salamis, pass by the St. Barnabas monastery and enter the old town. We walk into the small narrow streets and visit the Lala Mustafa Mosque (previously known as St. Nicolas cathedral). Free time for shopping and refreshments. Later we drive alongside the Ghost town area (hotel and residential sector). Finally we stop at the Salamis Tower beach for a swim at the crystal clear waters and have some refreshments.
