Nicosia north and south

Nicosia North and South.

Meet the two faces of Nicosia.  We start our journey with a drive to the New City sector passing by the University of Cyprus and the Saint Antony's local market.  We then drive alongside the Venetian Walls of Nicosia passing by the Famagusta Gate, the old Aqueduct and we arrive at the Archbishop's Palace.  We visit the Cathedral of St John.  After that we meet at the Monument of Liberty for picture taking.  We drive to the «OHI» bus parking place and walk to the Old City Center.  We then cross the «check point», where we need to show our passport or id.  (DON'T FORGET YOUR PASSOPORT OR ID).  Next is a visit to the «Buyuk Han» Cultural Center, for coffee and refreshments (try the freshly made lemonade).  Nearby lies the St. Sophia cathedral, now called the Selim Mosque.  We visit the mosque and we return to the south free part via the checkpoint.  Free time and lunch time at a nice Italian restaurant. We return back to the bus at the «OHI» spot to return home.  

FOR YOUR INFO:  You need to present your passport or id to the Turkish Cypriot regime's police authorities in order to be allowed to cross over to the north occupied part.  There you need to fill a «visa day pass» writing on it your name, passport or id number and nationality.  You will need to present again the «visa pass» to them on our way back to the south free part.
