Come and discover the world's last divided city in this full day excursion to Nicosia, Cyprus' capital. Nicosia today is a vibrant, buzzing commercial and business hub where you'll find busy pavement cafes and sophisticated restaurants right next to with quiet cobbled squares and crumbling facades in a fascinating blend of old and new. The barbed wire and watchtowers of the Green Line cut the town in two, the northern side being the capital of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus and the southern half, the capital of the Republic of Cyprus.
We'll go on a guided tour of both halves of this divided city, crossing into northern Nicosia through one of the checkpoints. You'll also climb a watchtower in order to get privileged views other both sectors of the city. Explore the picturesque old town, surrounded by its largely intact city walls. Delve into dark hole-in-the-wall cafes, following the enticing aroma of Cypriot coffee, explore the many little woodworking shops deep in labyrinth of narrow streets and alleys and visit the old Ayias Sophia Church and the picturesque Market Square. Culture vultures will want to visit some of Nicosia's many museums, including the Archaeological and Byzantine Museums. Modern Eleftheria Square, is the heart of Nicosia and is surrounded by elegant shopping boulevards.
This full day tour includes hotel pick up and drop off, transfer, a guided walking tour, all entrance fees and the services of an English-speaking guide throughout. Please note that EU Nationals will need a passport to cross into northern Nicosia.
