Natural North / Rainforest

Picking out one area over any other in an island as beautiful as La Palma seems almost sacrilegious – but the natural north deserves its place in the sun. Expect spectacular scenery, lush landscape, verdant valleys and picturesque hamlets during this fascinating full-day guided tour.

Passing through the historic and well-preserved capital, Santa Cruz de La Palma, our first destination will be the district of Puntallana, where wild tropical forests almost fall into the Atlantic. We’ll visit the rustic Casa Lujan for an insight into the island’s past before moving on the San Bartolo viewpoint, from where you will enjoy jaw-dropping views of the dramatic landscape.

At Barlovento, in the north-east corner, we will visit the sea pools of La Fajana for a photo stop. At Charco Azul, there will be a fascinating stroll along the tropical plantations, where you will learn about bananas, sugar cane and other local crops. To cap off this segment, we’ll visit the island’s only remaining rum distillery for a tasting.

The quaint colonial-era village of San Andres will be where we stop for lunch. After eating, we end the tour on a high with a visit to the biosphere reserve of Los Tilos for a trek through its tropical forests, famed for their lush vegetation, wildlife and water systems.
