This tour includes a visit to the castle Veliki Tabor, which brings us hundreds years in the past at a time when nobility enjoyed a luxurious lifestyle at the expense of the poor peasantry.
Not much has change in these relations until today. You’ll admire how well this 15th century castle is preserved. Tired of sympathizing with peasantry, you can renew your energy at the nearby restaurant “Grešna Gorica” (Sinfull Hill). Take just a quick bite of traditional “strukli” and a sip of rakija or enjoy a full traditional lunch.
After that you’ll be on your way to Kumrovec. This is the biggest open air museum in Croatia. Its called “Old Village” and it is an ethnological exhibition of traditional wooden houses. Each one of them shows you a particular aspect of the everyday life of the 19th century peasant. The most famous house is the one where Josip Broz Tito (president of former Yugoslavia) was born. There you can learn not only about him, but also on all there is to be known about the communist era of the Croatian history. Before you go home, you can try on “Pionirs” hat.
