Walking Tour In The Old City

Lose yourself in the historic centre of Cartagena, a city crammed with historical gems and a walled UNESCO world Heritage Site. Wander its narrow streets flanked by colonial and republican style houses and 11 kilometres of strong stone walls.

Enter the Cloister and Church of San Pedro Claver, built by the Jesuits in the early seventeenth century and named after the defender and protector of early slaves. Wander the historically important Plaza de Bolivar to find the statue of our liberator and beautiful historical Cathedral. Feel the presence of a dark past at the Palace of the Inquisition, where sentencing for crimes against the Christian faith were carried out, and where you can still witness some chilling torture devices that have been preserved.

Enjoy some shopping time for local handicrafts and souvenirs at Las Bovedas. Allow yourself to get gold fever at the Gold Museum, a most beautiful testimony to the local Zenú culture and typical of the Caribbean region. Gape at the collection of 538 pieces of jewelry, 61 pieces of pottery and much more. Find hidden treasures in the Bastion Santa Catalina. Built by Cristóbal de Roda to protect Cartagena from the northeast, this proud building now houses the Museum of fortifications.

Choose your ideal way to discovery Cartegena with different combinations of these intriguing attractions available through Options A or B of our Walking Tour of the Old City. Be surprised by the many other fascinating historic sights that are waiting to be revealed.
