Get to know Bogota from a different perspective, with a healthy dose of culture, art, history, and food! Start this Bogota walking tour in the city’s historic neighbourhood, La Candelaria, where the city was founded in 1538.
Enjoy its well-preserved architecture, characterised by Spanish colonial and Baroque styles. Explore Bogota´s uprising urban street art and discover some of its most famous murals and artists. Through these fascinating artistic representations, you’ll learn about Colombia´s history, culture and politics. From there, you’ll get to know all about another element of Colombian culture – cocoa! At a traditional local shop, you'll get the low down on the whole chocolate making process and then try the finest homemade chocolate.
Along the way you’ll also taste Chicha, a fermented beverage made out of maize, which dates back to ancient Muisca times, and enjoy a traditional “corrientazo”, a popular menu of the day packed with Colombian culinary delights. Stroll through the streets of La Candelaria, visit Chorro de Quevedo, Museo de Botero (renowned Colombian painter & sculptor), and Plaza de Bolivar (main square). Continue to an “empanada” shop and indulge in this freshly made street-food snack filled with fried with rice, meat and chicken. Finally, visit Bogota´s first printing house and get involved in a short printing workshop featuring traditional techniques.
