5 Days in Yangshuo and Longji's Rice Terraces

DAY 1: Airport Pick-Up and Transfer to Hotel in Yangshuo

I will meet you at Guilin Airport and transfer you to your Yangshuo Hotel, a journey which will take about 2 hours.  After checking you into your hotel and give you some time to take a rest, I will come and take you on a little sightseeing tour in Yangshuo. I will walk you through West St. and the surrounding area.  If you are feeling up to it, the same evening I can take you to see the famous Yangshuo Impression Show: great open air show staged by the famous director Zhang Yimou (who also staged the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games in 2008) in which more than 600 actors and actresses partake; or I can take you to enjoy cormorant fishing on the Li river, which is an old traditional disappearing way of fishing where cormorant birds are used. (either of these for the additional cost of entry to the venue of your choice).

DAY 2: Bamboo Raft on Yulong River, Moon Hill, Big Banyan Tree

We will first go to the Shangri-La park by car, which is dedicated to the various cultures of the minority tribes from the province, then we will go to the Dragon bridge where we will take a bamboo raft over the Yulong river.  This part of  the scenery is regarded as the most beautiful view of the Yulong river, it will take us about 2 hours. After that we will visit a nearby picturesque and typical local old village (more than 600 years old). We will then climb up the famous Moon Hill (900 steps!) to enjoy a breathtaking view of what makes this area so famous among artists and poets. We will have lunch in a farmer's restaurant at the foot of the hill. In the afternoon the ride continues to the Big Banyan Tree park and then return to Yangshuo, cycling along the rice paddies. In the evening there is still a choice, depending on the first night's choice, for a nice evening program (either the cormorant fishing or the Impression Light Show).

DAY 3:  Bike ride in the morning, Boat cruise on Li River in the Afternoon

Today we will first make a beautiful bike ride in the countryside and in the afternoon we will go by car to the village of Xingping and from there by boat to Yangdi, where we an enjoy the most beautiful part of the Li river. On the way back we will have lunch and visit Xingping, village which has a history of more than thousand years! At the end of the afternoon we will head to Yangshuo, and visit Fuli on the way back, small town famous for their hand-painted fans.

DAY 4: Rice Terraces Tour by car

This day we will visit the famous 'Dragon's Backbone' (Longji), known for it's famous rice terraces and the minority tribes who live there with their own language, culture and traditions. For example on the way we will immediately notice how the building style is different than from the cities, here everything build in wood; we will also see the different ways of living of the Dong, Yao, Zhuang and Miao tribes. We will reach Ping'an in early afternoon after a beautiful walk among the mountains (20 to 30 minutes walk), there we will enjoy a typical local lunch. After lunch the chance to see why this area is so famous: the rice terraces!

 DAY 5: Rice Terraces To the Guilin airport.

After having enjoyed the last beautiful morning views of Longji's landscape, we will head to the Guilin airport, with a visit to the local «Long Hair» village and a local tea plantation where we can enjoy some delicious local tea. The best way to conclude an unforgettable five days...!
