Early departure from your Hotel / Hostel (Puerto Varas / Puerto Montt) direction to Alerce Andino National Park (33,972 hectares, created on  1912), towards us encounter with the great Calbuco volcano(blue water in huilliche) and and their temperate Rainforest.  This National Reserve is part of the Temperate Rain forests of the Austral Andes and it was declared a Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO In 2007.

This beautiful excursion will take you through the Pacific Coast «Reloncaví Sound» through the Southern Road. Pass by quaint fishing villages and then 1 hour to reach part of the river «White», about 300 m The Pacific Ocean coast, fields, Volcano Calbuco and all the beautiful Andean-Patagonian Cordillera, join us in this beautiful journey.

We start our walk by a beautiful native forest, wet and mild wowed us with its intense green, where we can see species as Coigues (Nothofagus Donbeyi) Ulmos (Eucryphia cordifolia), Tepa (Laurelia philippiana) Mañios (Podocarpus nubigena), Tiacas (Caldcluvia paniculata), Lumas (Amomyrtus Luma), Cinnamon (Drymis winteri) of beech (Nothofagus pumilio) with the large Larch or redwood(Fitzroya cupressoides) on high. Also available in the evergreen forest, Lianas like Voqui Red (Cissus striata), the Quilineja (Luzuriaga polyphylla) and Bottle (Mitraria coccinea).     The Alerce, Lahuén or lahuán in Mapuche (Fitzroya cupressoides) is an evergreen tree that reaches a height of 45 meters and whose diameter can exceed 4 meters wide. It was declared «Natural Monument» in 1976, which prohibits the cutting of every individual living in the Chilean Territory.

After approximately 4 hours of walking (8 km.), We arrive at an old shelter at the foot of the volcano Calbuco. The current morphology has been determined by a historical succession of tectonic and glacial processes that highlights the Calbuco volcano cone with a height of 2015 meters, which recorded its last eruption in March 1961. Spectacular views await us Calbuco volcano valley, canyons, volcanoes, fjords of the southern sea. Rest, take pictures and enjoy our box lunch to get energy!!!

During our walk we go with the typical fauna of the place where we can see or hear some birds the black woodpecker, the Huet — Huet South (Pteroptochos tarnii), Kingfisher (Magaceryle Stella torquata), the Peuco (Parabuteo unicinctus), the Tiuque (Milvago Rhea), the Upland Goose (Chloephaga picta) and Torcaza (Patagioenas araucana).
