Depart from your designated Whitehorse location for a full day of fishing out on a nearby lake. If you need to obtain a fishing license before you hit the road, your guide can take you to a nearby facility to obtain one (own expense). This excursion is suitable for all ages and skill levels — a great trip for the whole family.
Most trips go out to Fish Lake, roughly 15 miles (24 km) from Whitehorse, but other options include Tagish Lake, Marsh Lake, Lake Laberge and Little Atlin Lake. Your location is mostly determined by weather and road conditions, ensuring your small group has a safe and enjoyable day out on the water. No matter where you set up shop, expect to find an array of freshwater fish that include lake trout, pike, rainbow trout, Arctic grayling and whitefish.
Grab your poles and other provided equipment and hop aboard a fishing boat that accommodates your group size. After a few hours of learning the ropes and fishing at leisure, head back to shore for a picnic lunch that might include artisan sandwiches, fruit, vegetables, and other fresh fare. If you’re lucky, you might even get to watch your guide cook up some morning catches on a lakeside fire! You are welcome to bring coolers to store your fish, but there are no freezing or shipping options available on this tour.
Once lunch is over, head back out on your boat for a few more hours of fishing before you meet your provided transport back to Whitehorse. By the end of your fishing trip, you can say you’ve experienced a popular pastime in the Yukon!
