Depart from your Whitehorse hotel on provided transport for a Yukon mountain biking excursion. Named one of the best biking destinations by Outside magazine, the circuit of trails that connects Whitehorse and Carcross offers easy routes along the banks of the Yukon River to challenging trails with steeper hills.
In the course of a decade, the neighboring cities of Whitehorse and Carcross worked together to connect a web of multi-use trails into a singletrack network—heaven on earth for biking enthusiasts.
Find your slice of heaven on the half-day trip for a 2- to 3-hour ride, or go out on a full-day excursion. Be sure to let your guide know what pace you would like to go and what you want to see as you venture into an area that offers some 500 miles (805 kilometers) of trails. In Whitehorse and surrounding areas, there are pedestrian-free paths specifically designed for mountain biking.
Your guide might take you out on the Grey Mountain trail, where you'll swoop up and down a series of hills in a boreal forest. From there, you may pass what used to be Canyon City, an area where Klondike stampeders set up camp to strategize how they would cross the rushing rapids of the Yukon River. Wherever your friendly guide decides to lead you, rest assured the selected trail will suit your group members' fitness levels.
Expect to stop for breaks along the way. Snacks are provided in both trip options, while the full-day ride also includes lunch that may consist of artisan sandwiches, samples of Yukon sausages, smoked salmon, fruit, vegetables, nuts and dessert.
Once your biking adventure is over, hop back into your provided transport to return to your Whitehorse hotel.
