Day 1: Vancouver – Whitehorse (D)
Hop on your plane at the Vancouver International Airport and fly to Whitehorse, the capital of Canada’s Yukon region. When you land from your Air North flight, your friendly local guide will whisk you to your rustic lodgings, located a mere stone's throw from the Takhini River. This charming retreat exudes a calming, cozy atmosphere, and is the ideal location to recharge and explore the beautiful Canadian wilderness. If you choose, explore your new surroundings with a choice of outdoor activities, available for an additional cost. Select between the exhilaration of ice-climbing, snowshoeing through wooded paths, ice-fishing, snow-mobiling and more.
After working up an appetite, tear into a home-cooked dinner and return to your room to relax. Mere steps away from your room, you can watch the river rush by and take in views of the surrounding mountains and forest. In the fall and winter months, the bed and breakfast's distance from surrounding city lights makes it an ideal vantage point for catching a glimpse of the breathtaking northern lights display. To the north, you’ll see
an eerie, sulfurous-green sheen ripple into the night, slowly growing and
then bursting across the full expanse of the sky. Get an even closer view with an optional special Northern Lights viewing tour.
Overnight: Muktuk Guest Ranch Bed & Breakfast
Day 2: Whitehorse (B, D)
In the morning, enjoy a hearty homemade breakfast and experience another local draw: dog mushing. Depending on the timing of your visit, you can join in an exhilarating morning training run with the dogs and meet the canine family (September–November), mush alongside the Takhini River (December–March), or experience life in the day of a dog handler with more than 100 huskies (April).
After your day with man's best friend, return to your lodging for a true taste of the Yukon. The night's multi-course dinner begins with an appetizer and salad before launching into dishes featuring local elk, bison, caribou and arctic char. End the evening on a sweet note with dessert, or choose to stretch out your day by embarking on the optional Northern Lights Viewing tour.
Overnight: Same bed and breakfast
Day 3: Whitehorse – Vancouver (B)
Fuel up in the morning with breakfast before a leisurely day in Yukon. Stay nearby and explore the wilderness with optional outdoor activities, relax in your room, or experience nearby city life with a trip to downtown Whitehorse. Your guide will pick you up and take you on a city tour, allowing you free time for shopping and more sightseeing on your own. After returning to the bed and breakfast, say goodbye to your rejuvenating visit to Canada's rustic countryside before boarding the provided transportation to the airport. Your 5 p.m. flight will deliver you back in Vancouver a little more than two hours later, with many memories and photos to share.
