Phnom Penh is a capital city of Cambodia. The city itself is situated on where four rivers cross each other. It is no wonder why many tourists come to Phnom Penh to experience Khmer lifestyle, cuisine, art, culture, and history. On this special tour, we begin at the heart of Phnom Penh.
Royal Palace, which sits in front of riverside, was built in 1866 by kings of Cambodia. It is the place that attracts all tourists to visit Silver Pagoda, Khemarin Palace, Chan Chhaya Pavilion, gardens and many Buddhist statues.
Next the tour travels to our National Museum of Cambodia and is nearby the Royal Palace. Inside this Museum, tourists can find Buddhist Statues and learn about Khmer Art History such as: Prehistory, Ceramics, Bronze, Pre Angkor Period, Angkor Period, and Post Angkor Period. The museum buildings were constructed between 1917 and 1924, with the inauguration of the museum in 1920. The central section of the east facade was renovated in 1968 under the supervision of Cambodian architect, Vann Molyvann.
By the way, at lunch time we can enjoy at riverside area because this area has many restaurants with delicious khmer and foreign food to serve us every time.
After lunch, we will go to Wat Phnom that is the middle of Phnom Penh, we can visit pagoda on mountain or riding elephant around Wat Phnom. Sometime when we look up the trees at Wat Phnom, we will see a lot of monkeys and big bats that sleep on the trees.
Next, we continue to Independence Monument to take the photographs with the 100 dragon heads and watching Cambodia architect, Vann Molyvann who built Independence Monument in 1958.
Finally, we travel to Tuol Sleng to see the pictures how Pol Pot torture Cambodian people. It’s a very sad place but a must-see that hammers home the horror that was the Khmer Rouge. So our tour end at Tuol Sleng, we wish you enjoy your trip.
