Corcovado With Outside View from Maracana Stadium & Sambodromo

This four-hour tour will take you the top of Corcovado Hill, site of the iconic statue of Christ the Redeemer, opening his arms wide in a gesture of protection towards the city spread out below. You’ll enjoy incredible views of the city of Rio far below. The tour also includes a visit to the world famous Maracana football stadium and the Sambadrome, home to Rio’s amazing carnival, the world’s biggest party.

The tour starts with a twenty minute ride through the dense Atlantic rain forest of Tijuca as we climb to the summit of Corcovado Mountain, crowned by the Art Deco statue of Christ the Redeemer. Your guide will show the main sights of the city spread out far below you as you enjoy the incredible views from this mountain-top vantage point.

Then as we descend, we’ll head for the world-famous Maracana stadium, officially known as the Estadio Mario Filho. We’ll drive around the outside of this magnificent sports venue, first opened for the 1950 World Cup, and still the largest of its kind in South America. The stadium is now set to host the final of the 2014 World Cup.

We’ll continue to the nearby Sambadrome, designed by famous local architect Oscar Niemeyer in 1984. This is a specially built parade area where 90,000 spectators watch the city’s samba schools compete every year in Rio’s world-famous Carnival.
