Bhutan is a small country in the Himalayas between the Tibet Autonomous Region of China and India. Besides the stunning natural scenery, the enduring image of the country for most visitors is the strong sense of culture and tradition that binds the kingdom and clearly distinguishes it from its larger neighbours. Bhutan is the only Vajrayana Buddhist nation in the world, and the profound teachings of this tradition remain well preserved and exert a strong influence in all aspects of life. Due to its pristine environment and harmonious society, the tiny Kingdom of Bhutan has been called "The Last Shangrila."

Day 1: Arrival in Paro - Thimphu

After meeting your guide and driver at Paro International Airport, proceed to Thimphu, the capital of Bhutan. Enjoy your first taste of Bhutanese cuisine before visiting National Memorial Chorten, a stupa built in memory of the Third King. Then, proceed to visit Tashichho Dzong, which houses the throne of the king.

Day 2: Thimphu

In the morning, drive up to Kuenselphodrang Nature Park, where you can admire the 169 feet bronze statue of Buddha Dordenma, Vajra Throne Buddha. Next, head to BBS Tower to catch the beautiful view of Thimphu Valley. On the way up, you can stop to see Takin, the national animal of Bhutan. Then, visit Simply Bhutan, a living museum and photo studio, to preserve and promote culture. Thereafter, a game of Archery; the national sport of Bhutan. Continue on to the Centenary Farmers Market, a weekend market famous for its agricultural products. Proceed to Changangkha Lhakhang, the oldest temple in Thimphu from the 12th Century.

Day 3: Thimphu - Punakha

Depart from Thimphu and continue to Punakha. Cross Dochula Pass and stop for sights of Druk Wangyal Chortens which was commissioned by Her Majesty the Queen Mother Ashi Dorji Wangmo Wangchuck to commemorate the victory over the Indian militants and to liberate the souls of the lives lost. Then, stop at Sobsokha Village and take a stroll through agricultural fields to Chimi Lhakhang, a pilgrimage site for childless couple or to seek protection for children. Then, visit Punakha Dzong, situated strategically at the junction of the Pho Chu and Mo Chu rivers. Thereafter walk along the 160 metres Pho Chhu Suspension Bridge, giving you a spectacular views of Punakha Dzong and the Pho Chhu Valley.

Day 4: Punakha - Paro

After breakfast, make your way back to Paro, home to many of Bhutan's old monasteries and temples. Take a stroll around Paro Town to pick up some souvenirs at your own expense. Then, proceed to visit Dungtse Monastery, built in 1421 by Thangtong Gyelpo to subdue the ogress. Next, visit the 7th century Kyichu Lhakhang, the oldest temple in Bhutan.

Day 5: Paro

Set of early for a gentle hike to Chumphu Monastery where the Dorji Phamo, the flying Goddess also known as the floating statue is situated. It is said that Goddess Dorji Phamo flew here from Tibet and stayed on in the form of a statue.

Day 6: Paro

Elevation 2,280 m
After breakfast, embark on a hike to Bhutan's most iconic landmark, Taktsang Lhakhang, which means Tiger's Nest Monastery. Clinging precariously to a granite cliff 800 metres above the Paro Valley, according to legend the great Guru Rinpoche Padmasambhava flew to this spot on the back of a tigress. The monastery was first built in 1692 at a cave where the Guru mediated in the 7th century A.D.

Day 7: Departure

Today we will bid fond farewell to this beautiful Himalayan country and take an early flight back to Singapore. We hope by now you would have made some friends and also kept many photos and beautiful memories of Bhutan! And we look forward to seeing you again in this beautiful land of endless Enchantments!
