MaMu, Misty Mountains and Wooroonooran National Park Full-Day Tour

Visit the World Heritage-listed rainforest on Cairns’ doorstep on a full-day tour to Wooroonooran National Park. Take guided rainforest walks at Josephine Falls, Wooroonooran National Park and Boulders Wilderness Reserve, and look over the forest canopy from the MaMu Rainforest Canopy Walkway. Hear legends of water nymphs and Aboriginal tribes, and cool off with a refreshing swim in a crystal-clear stream. With an Australian-Italian lunch at Innisfail, and a koala encounter at Cairns Tropical Zoo, this wet tropics day trip highlights the flora and fauna, rainforest landscapes and legends of Far North Queensland. Enjoy more personalized attention on this small-group tour, with numbers limited to 21 passengers.

Your tour begins with pick-up from your Cairns, Northern Beaches or Palm Cove hotel. Then sit back and relax on the scenic drive to your first stop at Cairns Tropical Zoo. Take a walk through the zoo's landscaped tropical gardens and enjoy close-up encounters with kangaroos, crocodiles and other wildlife. Cuddle a kangaroo or feed a wallaby, and see rare native and introduced species including Nepalese red pandas and ring-tailed lemurs.

Leaving the zoo, enjoy the trip past Pyramid Mountain and fields of sugar cane to Josephine Falls. Take a short guided walk deep into the rainforest, where a viewing platform at the top of Josephine Falls provides panoramic views over the forest. Your expert guide will share intriguing facts about the wet tropical rainforest's flora and fauna.

At lunchtime, enjoy an Australian-Italian buffet lunch in the town of Innisfail, settled by Italian immigrants and renowned for its lovely Art Deco buildings.

In the afternoon, travel to the World Heritage-listed Wooroonooran National Park. Take a guided walk through this wet tropics rainforest, inhabited by the MaMu people for millennia. Enjoy views over the canopy from the cantilevered viewing platforms of the MaMu Canopy Walkway and Tower, taking in vistas of the North Johnstone River gorge.

The route back to Cairns takes you through the tiny town of Babinda, and stops at the Boulders Wilderness Reserve on the eastern slopes of Mt Bartle Frere, Australia's second-highest mountain. Take a rainforest walk to a granite rock gorge, where you can enjoy a refreshing swim in the creek. Your knowledgeable guide shares the legends of the local Aboriginal Tininji tribe, which tell the story of the maiden Oolana who lives in the creek's submerged boulders.

The tour concludes with drop-off at your Cairns, Northern Beaches or Palm Cove hotel.
