Experience the best of Australias Northern Territory on this 7 day budget trip. The trip departs from Darwin and heads to Kakadu National Park the largest in the Australian park system. Enroute to Kakadu we take a cruise on the Adelaide River to see the giant jumping crocodiles in the wild. We camp in Kakadu for two days where we will see world famous aboriginal rock art, take a birdwatching cruise on the Yellow River, experience the magnificent Jim-Jim the parks most dramatic waterfall and hike among the fascinating geologic exposures which are over two billion years old. Leaving Kakadu we head to Litchfield National Park for 2 days of hiking and swimming among the numerous waterfalls and swimming hole before we return to Darwin.

Day 1 - Arrive at Darwin

Your tour guide will meet you at the airport and take you to your hotel. If any time is left during the day you can use it to explore Darwin or just enjoy a few beers at one of the many open air pubs along Mitchell Street. Stay in the Palms Motel.

Day 2 - Darwin to Jabiru

We pick you up from your hotel in the morning and make a final run to the grocery store before heading to Kakadu. On the way we take a cruise on the Adelaide River to see the crocodiles jump out of the water for bait given by the boatmen. We camp near Jabiru in Kakadu.

Day 3 to 5 - Jabiru, Kakadu National Park

We spend 2 full days exploring the park. Sites visited include the rock art sites at Nanguluwur, Nourlangie and Ubirr, a cruise on the Yellow River a diverse wetland ecosystem, a trip to the famous Jim Jim Falls and a short hiking trip to the Gunlom Plunge Pool for swimming and to view the spectacular waterfalls. On Day 5 we leave the park and drive to the Adelaide River Inn where we will spend the night near Litchfield.

Day 6 - Litchfield National Park

We spend the day swimming, hiking and viewing the beautiful waterfalls of the park. Stops include; Florence Falls, the Magnetic Termite Mounds, Tolmer Falls, Wangi Falls and Cascade Creek. We leave the park via the north end and stay at Tumbling Waters Holiday Park.

Day 7 - Litchfield NP to Darwin

We depart early from Tumbling Waters Holiday Park depending on the timing of flight connections for the short drive back to Darwin.
