Bruny Island Sightseeing and Gourmet Tour from Hobart

Eat your way around Bruny Island on a gourmet and sightseeing tour from Hobart. Visit scenic lookouts overlooking Adventure Bay and Cloudy Bay, and spot echidnas, birds, white wallabies and other wildlife on scenic walks and drives. You’ll also taste the gourmet treats Bruny Island is famous for, from artisan cheeses and locally grown berries to smoked salmon, chocolates and nougat. With pick up and drop-off from your Hobart hotel included, along with the round-trip ferry, this is the best way to experience Bruny Island’s wild beauty and wickedly delicious gourmet food.

Your tour begins with pickup from your Hobart hotel and a scenic drive to the pretty coastal town of Kettering, where your Bruny Island ferry departs.

Enjoy the 15-minute cruise over to Bruny Island, then travel by air-conditioned minivan to the narrow neck of land connecting the north and south parts of the island, passing oyster farms and grazing properties en route. Your island tour begins with views from Adventure Bay lookout and the Hummock lookout, a significant indigenous site that's home to Truganini Memorial.

Continue to Adventure Bay and the Captain Cook monument, and stop for morning tea (at own expense) at the Bruny Island Berry Farm. Locally grown berry fruits are available in all kinds of ways here, including ice cream, pancakes, scones with jam and cream, strawberry and chocolate fondue, and berry cakes.

Your tour continues along the Mount Mangana Trail, passing Cloudy Bay on the way to Cape Bruny Lighthouse. The lighthouse is Australia's last vantage point to spot migrating humpback and southern right whales, and an important navigational landmark for ships at sea.

Feeling hungry by now, stop at Hotel Bruny for a wonderful lunch featuring local island produce, including locally caught fish, and Tasmanian beef and lamb.

The afternoon is all about nature and more food, with stops at the Bruny Island Cheese Company to taste delicious artisan cheeses, fresh oysters at Get Shucked, and smoked salmon at BISH.

Walk off your indulgent lunch and tastings on a short stroll along the coast and through Bruny Island’s pristine bushland, keeping an eye out for echidnas, wallabies, wildflowers and the island's unique birdlife.

Later in the afternoon, enjoy the round-trip ferry to Kettering and stop off for a chocolate-making presentation and tasting at Nutpatch Nougat Chocolates before returning to Hobart.
