It’s only appropriate that a Buenos Aires tango tour starts at one of the most popular icons in Buenos Aires – the obelisk. Tango is one of the most iconic things about Buenos Aires, and we’re about to take you on an in-depth, authentic tango experience – are you ready?
From the obelisk, we head towards one of the oldest milonga in town, a place where both professional and amateur tango dancers can dance. Continuing along the tango trail, we head to Avenida de Mayo, where we’ll find the National Academy of Tango and discover one of the most traditional bars in the city, which once hosted legendary tango singer Carlos Gardel.
Our tango tour continues to wind its way through the tango hotspots in Buenos Aires (aka tango city), with a visit to one of the oldest bars in the city, famous due to the tango song written by Francisco Lacal Montenegro. Eventually, we’ll find our way to San Telmo, the famous Buenos Aires tango district.
San Telmo is where it all started, and where we’ll get the chance to do a bit of time travel thanks to El Viejo Almancen. Back in 1969, this place became the ‘Temple of Tango’, and is a can’t-miss spot for the leading tango in Buenos Aires. Also in San Telmo, we’ll find the Tango Cultural Centre and the beautiful Plaza Dorrego, which is always full of artists, live music, and tango! We’ll finish our tango tour there, where you can take a seat, grab a drink, and immerse yourself in the local atmosphere of the passionate, sensual, powerful art of tango.
