The Rice Paddy Experience

Rice is a staple diet in many Asian countries, especially in Vietnam. Perhaps, you have seen rice growing in most Asian rice paddy fields. However, you may not know the process of rice cultivation in Vietnam. It has raised some interest in tourists. This tour will give you the opportunity to take part in the rice paddy with the local farmers. Through this tour, you will learn how to cultivate rice in the field and experience the hardships of the Vietnamese farmers.

 

Meet guests at hotel by bicycle (minivan used as an option if unable to ride a bike). Bike to the countryside crossing though rice paddies and enjoy the fresh air. Meet the local farmers, discuss about the daily life of local farming, and enjoy a cup of tea with the farmers in the middle of the rice paddy field. Wear farming clothes before getting into the muddy rice field. Tour guide will provide introduction and explanation about the process of the rice and how to grow it in wet field. Take part in farming works to learn how to grow rice with water buffalo plough and use agricultural water system. Transplant baby wet rice at the rice paddy field. Enjoy riding the water buffalo in a small pond at a rice farm. Have a local meal with the local farmer in their home. Bike back to the hotel.
