When your cruise ship docks in St Thomas, head to the harbor in downtown Charlotte Amalie for two hours of pier fishing. With all tackle, gear and cut bait provided, enjoy a leisurely morning or afternoon on the waterfront. An experienced guide will show you how to use your spin-cast rod as you try to catch (and release) the big three — shark, barracuda and tarpon — and more! Numbers are limited to 10 people, ensuring an intimate experience with a small group.
Start your 2-hour shore excursion in St Thomas at Charlotte Amalie Harbor, where you’ll meet your experienced fishing guide and small group at whichever time you’ve selected: 9am, 11am or 1pm. Upon arrival, choose your cut bait — either shrimp or squid—and throw a line in the water with your user-friendly spin-cast rod. Then grab a chair or just dangle your legs over the side of the pier.
For new or relatively novice anglers, your guide will give a brief lesson on the use of the rod and offer help with casting. Your guide will rig all rods, hook all bait and fix any tangles or other issues so that all you have to do is hang out and have fun. All fish are catch and release, but you'll have time to take photos with your catches before they are released back into the water.
Try to land any one of more than a dozen species of fish, including tarpon, shark, snook, barracuda, bonefish and snapper — all within casting range. This prime fishing spot is situated in a semi-protected harbor with calm waters and only occasional swells. In historical downtown Charlotte Amalie, you’re right across the street from Big Kahuna Rum Shack and just steps away from all the restaurants and shops in town, but drinks are also available for purchase at the pier. When you’re ready, make your own way back to the cruise terminal.
