Bioluminescent Bay Catamaran Cruise with Dinner

Cruise over Mosquito Bay (Puerto Mosquito), a bioluminescent lagoon off the southern shore of Vieques Island, and see the water glow blue-green at night. During your 6-hour tour from Fajardo, take a power catamaran at sunset to the town of Isabel Segunda while tropical drinks are served onboard. Enjoy a casual dinner at a local restaurant before an educational pontoon boat ride on Mosquito Bay. You'll witness the magic of microorganisms lighting up the radiant water as your guide explains the science behind this natural phenomenon.

Depart by power catamaran from Puerto Del Rey Marina at approximately 4:30pm or 5:30pm, depending on the season. You'll be served complimentary beverages on board, such as piña coladas and rum punch, as you watch the sun set behind the mountains of El Yunque.
Enjoy the breathtaking views of Puerto Rico's east coast until you reach the small town of Isabel Segunda, located on the north side of Vieques Island. Here, your guide accompanies your group by van or bus to a local restaurant at Island Adventure Eco-Center for a casual dinner. (Please note: On occasion, dinner will be at the end of the tour.) Choose from a wide selection of seafood, meat fajitas and vegetarian options.

After your meal, hop on another bus for an adventurous drive down a bumpy dirt road to Mosquito Bay, where you'll board an electric-powered pontoon boat. Your guide takes you through the amazing waters of this bioluminescent bay off Vieques Island and describes the fragile ecology of the plants and animals that inhabit it.
Listen to interpretive talks explaining the incredible natural phenomenon of these dinoflagellates—fragile microorganisms that produce a bright burst of blue light when they come into contact with another organism. You'll learn about nutrients provided by the surrounding mangroves, and what causes the shallow and protected waters to appear so bright with millions of these single-celled glowing creatures.
Your crew anchors the boat in an area of high bioluminescent concentration and brings buckets of water on board so that you can run your hands through the water. Watch the tiny organisms light up and sparkle all over your arms and legs, or dip your hands and feet in the water as you dangle from the boat ladder. (The Department of Natural Resources does not allow swimming in the bioluminescent bay.)
After exploring the magic of this natural wonder, you'll be transported back by boat and bus to Puerto Del Rey Marina in Fajardo between 10:30 and 11:30pm. Additional Info
