Choose from one of three start times to suit your schedule, and either start your tour with a hotel pickup (surcharge payable) or meet your guide in central Savannah. Board your air-conditioned bus, and set off on your 1.5-hour tour of Savannah’s Historic District, visiting the movie locations that the neighborhood has hosted over the years.
With its stately 18th-and 19th-century architecture, the area has long been considered to have the perfect backdrop for filming. From the silent films of yesteryear to more-current blockbusters such as Forrest Gump, Savannah’s Historic District has an ever-growing collection of exciting movie locations. As such, your guide will adapt the tour as needed, and may work in different film sites to the itinerary.
See Mercer-Williams House, the reportedly haunted building that featured in the novel and movie adaptation Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil, as well as the timelessly charming Six Pence Pub, a venue that played a starring role alongside Julia Roberts in the 1995 romcom Something to Talk About.
Listen to insider gossip about your favorite movie stars such as Tom Hanks, and see the spot where he played Forrest Gump and muttered his now-famous ‘life is like a box of chocolates’ quote. See where Robert Redford, Will Smith and Charlize Theron pounded the pavements in Legend of Bagger Vance at Madison Square, and visit the street where John Travolta walked in the 1999 murder-mystery The General’s Daughter.
After exploring the movie sites of Savannah, finish your tour outside Leopold’s Ice Cream where you can enjoy an ice cream, if you wish! The morning tour finishes back at the start point, but your guide will point you in the direction for the popular ice cream parlor if you want to visit independently. All ice creams are at your own expense.
