7-Day Winter Alaska Experience: Anchorage and Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race

Be a part of the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race, a world-renowned event, on this 7-day tour in Alaska’s Anchorage area. With your guide, visit the Iditarod Headquarters, meet four-time champion Martin Buser, dine with racers from all around the world at the Mushers’ Banquet, and cheer them on during the race! You’ll also see Alaskan wildlife up close at the Alaska Zoo and have free time to enjoy outdoor adventures like dog sledding, flightseeing, skiing and snowshoeing (own expense). Six nights of accommodation, daily breakfasts and transportation are included.

Arrive in Anchorage and take a coach tour to the coastal community of Seward the following day. See Alaskan wildlife up close at the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center and the Alaska Sealife Center.

The next day, enjoy free time to explore on your own or do fun activities like dog sledding, snowmobiling, flightseeing, skiing and snowshoeing (additional costs).

On your fourth day, take a guided tour through Anchorage’s historic downtown district and see Lake Hood and Lake Spenard. Take a behind-the-scenes tour of wildlife exhibits at the Alaska Zoo and enjoy an exclusive dinner at the Mushers’ Banquet, where you’ll dine with racers from all over the world.

Follow it up the next day with a meet-and-greet with four-time Iditarod Champion Martin Buser at his Happy Trails Kennel! Hear his personal stories about the race and then visit the Iditarod Headquarters.

The following two days, snag a great spot for the commencement festivities and then the race! Cheer on mushers as you watch them parade through town and race to the finish. End your trip with a farewell dinner and depart Anchorage on your seventh day.
