Skip the Line: Hard Rock Café London

The city that gave the world mods, rockers and the Rolling Stones is also the birthplace of the first ever Hard Rock Cafe. It was here that the first impromptu gig took place – take a bow, Paul McCartney – and that the first iconic T-shirt saw the light of day, and it was here that largest rock ’n’ roll memorabilia collection began.

Yes, this is where it all began back in 1971 when the Hard Rock Cafe brought moderately priced, laidback American fare and warm, friendly service enjoyed in a backdrop of rock 'n'roll music. The idea may seem commonplace now but at the time it was revolutionary in London. Times have changed but this old classic remains and you can still admire the café’s very first piece of rock memorabilia.

Come along and enjoy one of the four delicious menus that are as legendary as the music and venue itself. And don’t forget to check out Eric Clapton's Lead II Fender, which he originally donated to reserve a space at the busy bar, thus beginning a rock memorabilia colelction that now numbers more than 74,000 pieces across almost 200 Hard Rock Cafes in over 50 countries. The London collection is now so large that a separate museum has opened at the Vault, in the old Coutts Bank, with items from Eric Clapton, Sting, The Who, the Sex Pistols and Guns N' Roses among other.
