Half Day Dubai Heritage Tour

Everywhere you look in the old centre of Dubai, you will see evidence of its ancient trade in gold, pearls, spices, fish and other prized commodities. This breathtaking historical excursion will take you across the Gold Souk, with its charming market atmosphere, to the Heritage House, which epitomises a traditional way of life that persitst. Next door is Dubai’s oldest educational institution, the Al Ahmadiyad School.

Inhale the rich aromas of the Grand Souk Deira, where you will find a wealth of spices on offer as well as many other products. Continue your journey by crossing the creek in an abra, a local water taxi, to see the area and Shindaga Palace, from where the leading sheikhs used to rule the emirate. After a visit to the historic Sheikh Saeed Al Maktoum House (residence of the grandfather of the present leader of Dubai) a brief walk along a creek leads directly to the Grand Souk Bur Dubai. Pass by the magnificent Grand Mosque in Bastakiya, which was established at the end of the 19th century by textile and pearl trading immigrants from Bastak in Iran. This picturesque district is famed for its quaint winding streets and the beautifully restored merchants’ houses. On your arrival at the Sheikh Mohammed Center for Culture and Understanding, you will be welcomed by Emiratis for an informal chat.

Meeting point: Pick-up in Dubai, Sharjah and Ajman hotels.
