Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque

This structural work of art is one the globe's most significant mosques, with a potential for an amazing 41,000 worshippers. It features 82 domes, over a 1,000 columns, 24 carat gold gilded chandeliers and the world's biggest hand knotted carpet. The primary prayer lounge is centered by one of the earth's largest chandeliers –10 metres in diameter, 15 metres in height and with a weight of twelve tonnes. The mosque's initial ceremony was the memorial of its namesake, Sheikh Zayed, who is laid to rest at the site.

Reflective pools encircle the mosque, amplifying its splendor. The stunning white and gold tones glowing in the sun are transformed at night by an exclusive lightning system which echos the phases of the moon.
