Saint Sophia Cathedral

Saint Sophia Cathedral is the oldest surviving churches in Kyiv. The cathedral was built by Prince Yaroslav the Wise in 1037. The grandeur of the cathedral with thirteen domes, was named in honor of the church of Saint Sophia in Constantinople. The first library and school of Kyivan Rus were located here. Hagia Sophia makes a lasting impression on its visitors with its frescoes and mosaics that have survived in their original form.
