Full Day The Golden Triangle And Doi Tung Royal Project From Hotel In Chiang Rai City Only (TCEI02)

This day tour starts with a drive to Doi Tung Mountain. This 1389 mts high mountain is located in an area known as “Golden Triangle”. Visit the Mae Fah Luang botanic gardens and learn about the Royal Project on Doi Tung. The hills in the area where reforested thanks to the interest of the late Princess Mother. The gardens are located on the slopes below the royal villa. Amongst rock formations, plants and flowers grow freely.

Continue to Mae Sai, the bustling border town between Myanmar and Thailand. You can cross into Myanmar on a day pass (Optional).

We continue to the Golden Triangle where the borders of Laos, Thailand and Myanmar meet. After a delicious Thai meal we will have a relaxing boat trip to Don Sao, a small island that belongs to Laos. We will stop here briefly.

You will also visit the Hall of Opium, an excellent museum that narrates the history of the use of Opium, poppy cultivation and the opium trade in the Golden Triangle. Return to your hotel in Chiang Rai later this afternoon.
