Wine and Cava route

Catalonia is one of Spain's top wine producing areas boasting eleven appellations of origin. Vines have been grown here for over 2000 years so the locals definitely know a thing or two about wine. In this tour of the Penedes region you'll visit three different wineries showcasing the best the area has to offer. Learn all about traditional and modern methods for producing wines and cava, find all about the different varieties and then taste them.

In this full day tour we'll visit three wineries, Freixenet the world famous producer of cava sparkling wine, Bodegues Torres and Bodegues Jean Leon. At Freixenet you'll learn all about the cava-making process and tour the deep underground cellars. You'll also have a chance to sample some of this classic winery's many varietals together with a traditional Catalan brunch. Next stop is a guided tour of the Bodegues Jean Leon. Learn how this modern winery combines tradition with cutting edge technology for the production of high expression wines and then try two different wines. Our final stop is the Bodegues Torres just outside Franciscan. You'll go on a guided tour of these historic wine cellars before enjoying a wine tasting paired with local cheeses.

There will be also a stop for lunch (at your expense)where you can choose from a selection of excellent local restaurants.
