In this five-day fully guided tour you'll get to visit some of the most important mediaeval towns in Catalunya including Vic and Girona with its famous Jewish Quarter and imposing Gothic Cathedral. We'll also visit the Dali Museum at Figueres, tour the magical mountain of Montserrat, paying a visit to the sophisticated resort town of Sitges, the Roman ruins at Tarragona and the famous Cistercian Abbey of Santes Creus.
On the first day we'll catch the high speed AVE train to Barcelona, where we'll arrive at in the early afternoon. You'll have plenty of time to explore this cosmopolitan Mediterranean metropolis in the afternoon and evening. Early next morning we'll drive to the mediaeval market town of Vic. We'll visit all the main buildings as well as the town's bustling market. After lunch it's time to head for the incredible Dali Museum at Figueres, housing the largest collection of the controversial artist's works in the world.
We'll spend the night at Girona, and the following morning we'll go on a guided tour of this mediaeval city with its narrow winding streets and well-preserved old buildings. We'll visit the old Jewish Quarter and the impressive Gothic Cathedral. After lunch we'll climb the magical mountain of Montserrat, heading for the world famous Benedictine Abbey, a magnet for pilgrims for centuries and the home of the Black Madonna, La Moreneta. Then we'll spend the night at the attractive resort town of Sitges where you'll have time to explore the quaint old town and the miles of golden sandy beaches.
We'll go in a walking tour of Sitges in the morning before heading for Tarragona. Tarraco as it was known to the Romans is a UNESCO listed World Heritage Site. We'll explore the impressive ruins including the walls of the old city, the amphitheatre and the forum. The town's fascinating archaeological museum is also well worth a visit. We'll spend the night here and the following morning you'll have plenty of time to explore at your own pace. The next stop is the old Cistercian Abbey at Santes Creus. After a traditional lunch in a local restaurant we'll make a stop at Bodegues Torres. We'll tour this renowned winery and try some of its fine wines before heading back to Barcelona where the tour will end
The tour includes the services of an escort / guide, travel by luxury air-conditioned coach, AVE train tickets fro Madrid to Barcelona, transfer from Barcelona Sants to the hotel, all accommodation and breakfast, 1 typical lunch, 3 dinners and a wine tasting.
