Touring: Costa del Sol-Granada-Toledo-Madrid (3 days)

Follow in the footsteps of history with this epic three-day tour to three of Spain’s most emblematic cities. You will visit the Alhambra complex in Granada, the former imperial capital of Toledo and the bustling metropolis of Madrid – all outstanding symbols of Spain’s rich past. The outward journey will be by coach and the return by the high-speed Ave train, with four-star accommodation in all three cities.

On Day one, you’ll make the short journey to Granada for a guided tour of the Alhambra palace and the Generalife gardens, both Unesco World Heritage Sites, where you will marvel at the opulence in which mediaeval Muslim princes lived.

The journey to Toledo itself is a treat, passing through the rolling olive groves of northern Andalusia and the arid pastures of La Mancha that so inspired Don Quixote.

At Toledo, which was the capital of the Spanish Empire before Madrid, a guided tour will take you through the immaculately preserved medieval streets of the Unesco World Heritage Site old town. Surrounded by ancient walls, the city boasts a stunning Gothic cathedral that is considered the finest in Spain. Toledo is also famous for its damascening decorative designs.

In Madrid, a guided sightseeing tour will take in the most emblematic sites and attractions of one of Europe’s great capitals and cultural centres before returning home the next day at speeds of up to 270km/h on the Ave.
