Come and discover the sparkling world of cava in this tour of the world famous Freixenet wine cellars. Explore the cellars in the company of knowledgeable guide and learn the secrets of this popular bubbly. Then visit Sitges, one of the prettiest towns on the Catalan coast and make the ascent to the impressive Benedictine Abbey of Montserrat by rack railway as you enjoy stunning views over the surrounding countryside.

First stop is the Freixenet cava wine cellars. You will learn all about the history of this family business in a brief audio-visual presentation then your friendly knowledgeable guide will take you down to the cellars themselves where you will see the wine being made. There are over 20km of underground cellars here and you will board a small train that will take you to the tasting room. Here you will have the chance to sample some of the cavas made by this world famous business. You will also be able to purchase wines and other related items at the store.

Next stop is the attractive coastal resort of Sitges. This attractive coastal resort is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Catalonia with its 17 beaches and laid back, friendly vibe. Stroll around the attractive old town with cobbled streets and impressive mediaeval buildings. There are , some great shops and exceptional restaurants here too and you'll also have plenty of time to explore for yourself.

After driving through picturesque little villages you will arrive at the incomparable setting of the mountain of Montserrat, rising majestically to 1235m. To get to the mountain we will climb almost 550m by the Montserrat Rack Railway, departing from Monistrol station. The train follows the remarkable contours of the mountains,providing you with unforgettable views over Montserrat and the surrounding countryside. Montserrat is a unique natural park containing one of the country's most important museums and the shrine of the patron saint of Catalonia. Visit the Royal Basilica, housing the Moreneta or Black Madonna, a 12th Century Romanesque carving. Enjoy a brief audio-visual presentation and learn all about life behind the Monastery walls, Afterwards you will get the chance to taste a liqueur prepared in the Abbey and have plenty of time to explore the attractions of Montserrat for yourselves
