See the amazing Templo de Debod, a 4th Century-BC Egyptian temple which was saved from the rising waters of Lake Nasser and sent block by block to Spain in 1970.
Wander through the famous Plaza de Espana where you will see a statue of Spanish writer, Cervantes. At the writer's feet is a bronze of his most well known characters, Don Quijote and Sancho Panza.
Finally you will return to the heart of Madrid, Plaza Mayor built in typical Herrerian style. Formerly a center for Royal festivities and Bull fighting, the square was burnt to the ground in 1790 but, was subsequently resurrected. Today the square is lined with shops and alfresco cafes, which makes it the perfect place to end your tour.
In summer, watch Madrid sparkle as the sun sets and day turns to night. Darkness falls earlier from autumn to spring, and the famous illuminations also light up earlier.
