Tuesday: The highest peaks of Gran Canaria Level 2.

On this average tour, walking above 1400m of altitude into the mountains, we can experience very well the differences between the drier south side, and the north of Gran Canaria with his higher level of humidity and different vegetation. We walk through pine forest and glades, smelling mint, sage, and broom, enjoying several panoramic views on the way(with good weather!), reaching as far as Tenerife with the highest mountain of Spain, the Pico de Teide, and sometimes even to La Gomera, two of the other canary islands in the west. Also the mighty Roque Nublo (1813m), Gran Canaria´s main landmark and the island´s highest top Pico de las Nieves (1949m) we will be able to admire on the way. .

Thursday: Those important water reservoirs Level 1.5.

This easy to average hiking tour takes us or to the southwest, respectively the southeast of Gran Canaria where some of the bigger reservoirs of the island , e.g. the Presa de Chira or the Embalse de Tirajana.can be found in a wonderful environment . While interesting pine forests dominate the southwestern region, beautiful palm tree oases can be explored in the southeast. Partially on wide tracks, so called royal paths, and/or former donkey trails we enjoy the silence of the area and an amazing, peaceful atmosphere – what a difference compared to the lively tourism centres on the south-coast of Gran Canaria! Today we walk between the 500 and max 1200m of altitude.

Friday: Jungle gorges in the NORTH Level 2.

This hike takes us to one of the (rare) jungle gorges in the northern part of the island. Depending the weather conditions we go hiking into the northeast or in the north. Wild water is still rushing into a (small)river bed through these interesting and humid gorges in the island.There, we can explore small waterfalls and small creeks year-round. We will make our way partially along narrow paths through fascinating, “jungle-like” vegatation – amazing that we are really on Gran Canaria! Depending the route of the day we have to “conquer” more or less uphill parts – sometimes quite steep!

Saturday: On the paths of our ancestors Level 2.5.

Depending the weather conditions we drive up to the southwest or to the north of the island. * Plan A = An amazing hiking trip, partially on fairly uneven tracks, up to the pine forests of the protected nature reserve of Inagua above the villages of Tasartico and Veneguera.This older volcanic part of the island surprises every experienced hiker again and again. Steep parts uphill, surprising hiking area, “forgotten” and “lonely” hiking tracks, superb views to Tenerife, incredibly ravine impressions, etc…. between make this trip an unforgettable one. * Plan B = Alternative route in the north . Hiking trip up to one of the younger volcano craters of the island. Surprising green mountain slopes, volcano gravel under our feet and, with good weather, wonderful views upon the north coast and our neighbour island on the way, make this hike very special. These 2 hiking trips only possible for people with a good physical condition ! Sunday: Surprising sunrise Level 1.

A relaxed look on sunrise in the morning from a nice spot into the mountains is an experience which only can be described ...by participating. Depending the weather conditions in the morning we go by mini-bus towards the Fataga region or the Barranco de Guayadeque. After a short hike, starting in the dark but with a torch in the hand, and enjoying a nice cup of coffee or gofio on the spot on our hike track, we “prepare” ourselves to watch the sun coming up. We always make sure we are back on time for breakfast in the hotel. Total duration of the walk : 2.5-3 hours on foot on the way up and back . Duration excursion in total: approx. 3.5-4 hs . Included : coffee, tee, typical canarian gofio with milk, fruit + water
