Day 1: Arrive at Ljubljana
Arrival at Ljubljana Airport or one of the nearby airports around Slovenia. Transfer to your hotel in Ljubljana and check-in. The rest of the day guided sightseeing of Ljubljana, the Slovenia capital. The highlights include the beautiful old town, Cathedral, Dragon Bridge, Castle and the Three Bridges Square. In the evening meet with your tour leader and fellow travellers.
Overnight in Ljubljana.
Day 2: Ljubljana – Vintgar – Bled – lake Bohinj – Ljubljana
After breakfast we drive through the picturesque landscape to the heart of the Slovenian Alpine region. The first stop is the Vintgar Gorge, one of the most popular natural features in Slovenia. The path through the Vintgar Gorge leads us over the wooden bridges, through galleries along the rushing river Radovna through the picturesque gorge, 1600m long and more than 100 m deep. Gorge ends with 26-metre Šum waterfall.
Later we depart to Bled, which is often mentioned as the »Pearf the Alpine region«. Famous for the emerald-green lake, romantic church on the island in the middle of the lake and a medieval castle from the 11th century perched on a cliff above the lake. Leisure in Bled and a trip to the island by the traditional lake boat called “Pletna”. The journey will continue to Lake Bohinj, the largest glacier lake in Slovenia. We will have time to relax at the side of the peaceful lake and enjoy the beautiful scenery of the mountains rising high above the lake.On the way back from Lake Bohinj to Ljubljana we drive through picturesque villages, also through the village of Studor which is famous for its group of wooden hayracks just below the village. The double structure of these hayracks is particular to the area and the Studor group of hayracks has been declared an architectural monument.
Return to Ljubljana and overnight.
Day 3: Ljubljana – Škocjan Caves – Lipica – Piran – Ljubljana
After breakfast we continue to the Škocjan Caves, which rank among the most important caves in the world, representing a must see underground phenomena. They are also on UNESCO World Heritage List. We continue to the Lipica Stud Farm, home of the Lipizzaner horse. Nowadays, it is one of the most beautiful cultural and historical monuments of Slovenia, its rich history reaching back to the year 1580, when Habsburg Archduke Carl founded it. We continue to Adriatic coast and stop at the coastal town of Piran, wich resembles a large open-air museum, stroll along narrow medieval streets you will fall in love with the city and its rich cultural heritage. After a walk and leisure in Piran we drive through Portorož, called also the »Slovenian Cote`d Azur« and return to Ljubljana.
Overnight in Ljubljana.
Day 4: Ljubljana
Transfer to airport for departure flight.
