Walk Through History - private walking tour of Belgrade

We will start our tour at Republic Square in front of the Monument of Prince Mihailo, a ruling Prince of Serbia in the 19th century, a square surrounded by the National Theatre and National Museum. We will continue our walk through Prince Mihailo Street and see the Serbian Academy of Arts and Sciences, the Rector 's Palace, the University and the buildings which house some of the most important institutions of Serbia. Every building on our way has its story, the story of notable Belgraders in the19th and 20th centuries. Noble men who generously donated large amounts of money to Serbian society.

Our walk will take us to Kalemegdan Park and Belgrade Fortress, built on the hill above the confluence of the Sava and Danube rivers. You will hear stories of brave defenders of the town throughout the history; 16th century Belgraders walking to Constantinople carrying their belongings in their arms; Prince Stefan and his unusual personality of a poet and a warrior; Nicolas Doxat de Démoret, Swiss architect who built modern Belgrade fortress and was executed here by the Habsburg authorities; and many more.

We will visit the famous Rose Church of Our Lady where the chandeliers are made of ammunition used by Serbian Soldiers in World War I, amongst other interesting sites.

Afterwards, we will continue to the Orthodox Cathedral of the Holy archangel Saint Michael and to Patriarch’s Court. You will see Princess Ljubica Mansion and hear the story of this brave and proud woman.
