The general plan of excursion included road to museum and back. At way to Peter and Paul Fortress our guide will acquaint you with other sights in center of Petersburg.
We will pass on historical center, we will see the Hermitage –main art museum of Russia, Palace Square with Alexander Column – a monument in honor a victory over Napoleonic army in 1812, Isaakiyevskaya Square with majestic St. Isaac's Cathedral —main temple of former capital of Russia. On Senate Square we will admire Bronze Horseman sung by A.S.Pushkin, we will photograph Spit of Vasilevsky Island –former port SPb, cruiser «Aurora», Smolny, Admiralty, Mikhailovsky Castle, where conspirators killed emperor Pavel I, Marble Palace, a gift of empress Catherine II to her favourite- count G.G. Orlov; we will pass on Marsovy field, on magnificent embankments of Neva which have been built up with palaces of nobility, on main street –Nevsky Avenue, etc.
During our excursion guests will be told story of emergence fortress. With its history are closely connected — emergence city on Neva and history of Russian state. Under protection of fortress the first buildings of Petersburg began to arise and appear.
Before Peter and Paul Fortress plan guests will examine a route of excursion and will be convinced of its perfection and practical inaccessibility in those days.
After walk around fortress and visits some bastions, tour continues in Peter and Paul Cathedral, where one can see burial of Romanov dynasty, and even tomb of Peter I. The last burial made in cathedral was Nikolas II family that had been gun down by Bolsheviks in Yekaterinburg in summer of 1918.
At 12:00 from Naryshkin bastion Peter and Paul Fortress the shot of alarm gun is made daily.
